LIZZIE

Rescued february 2019

Lizzie fought for her freedom. She has an unbelievable strength in her!

Saanen goats are exploited as milk machines in the dairy industry. Lizzie was treated as such. She was found wandering the roads with a badly infected udder, a result of excessive milking and abuse. The rescuer brought her to M2E, we have been able to treat her with a mammectomy, precluding her from having any more trouble with infection in her udder. It was a long round at the vet, however she’s been healthy and fully recovered for two years.

Lizzie will never miss out on a weet-bix or apple when a tour group makes its round, often climbing atop the fencing to get higher ground on Rustus and Missy.

BUD + BLOOM

Rescued march 2019

Bud and Bloom love to eat and run around with his each other, enjoying their special time with their mum Rose. A past-time usual for humans, but sadly not so familiar to most animals exploited in the agriculture industry.

Bud and Bloom have become close friends with Rocket, another sheep who arrived with their Mum. Every evening when dusk settles on the hill, these sheep along with Sally and Marci, run wild - head butting, playing, being the young teens they are.

 LACEY

Lacey was nursed through sickness from a nasty paralysis tick. While she was being cared for and in critical condition, the rest of her family had to suddenly be moved from the property they were on. While it is sad that Lacey could no longer be with her family, her carers felt the best thing for Lacey would be to find a safe, loving home once she was nursed to full health again.

LENTIL

Rescued march 2019

Lentil was in need of a home after his owner had exhausted all options in rehoming him. Thankfully, Animal Welfare League NSW rescued him and reached out to us to arrange his rehoming. Lentil is a man of solitude, however finds comfort in having conrades around for a few headbutts now and then!

MARCI & SALLY

Rescued may 2019

Marci and Sally are twin dorper lambs. They were hand raised from three weeks old by their previous owners, who could not continue to keep them. Luckily, they did not want Marci and Sally to become food, hence their arrival at Moo to Ewe! Thankfully they hold their own amongst Rose, Bud and Bloom who are unforgiving when dinner comes out.

They have both now become best friends with Rocket, Sage’s son!

ROSE

Rescued OCTOBER 2018

Our loudest resident! Rose demands to be heard. Though, her voice will not be silenced here, at her new oasis. Rose has lived a rough life, from the age of one, she was forcefully impregnated continuously within five years, having her babies taken away year after year. Thankfully, now Rose will live out her days with her twin boys by her side, Bud and Bloom.

SAGE + ROCKET

Rescued july 2019

We have our suspicions that Sage is truly Super Woman.

Sage led her newborn son Rocket and herself to safety, when they escaped the ag industry and were found by the side of the road. Sage had endured enough pain, with her tail docked so short it could almost be considered mulesed, she guaranteed her son would not experience the same.

They found their forever home here, and Sage quickly became surrogate mother to Marci and Sally too, whilst Rocket never strays too far from these girls.

TAHINI & TAMARI

Rescued november 2018

Tahini and Tamari are the shaggy shepherds of the resident sheep. The alpacas provide important security and companionship for all of the sanctuary's resident sheep and lambs. Beware of Tahini! He is a fierce protector of the sheep and is not afraid to pull out the ninja moves if he thinks they are under threat. Our suggestion is to move slowly and carefully!

DAISY

Rescued DECEMBER 2018

Daisy is a bubbly Fresian Heifer who was rescued with Tassie, and our passed, dearly loved Barney, at a Taree Dairy Farm. The farm had an overload of calves, so we went to ensure at least a few were given a positive future.

Daisy enjoys her days butting heads with Oreo and Koda, and lazing under the trees.

She loves a cuddle and a smooch, and does not hesitate to steal a bit of Koda’s breakfast.

HOPE

Rescued july 2018

Hope was discovered alone, barely surviving on the side of the road. Hope and Ray would have been exploited for their ‘meat’ if not for a passer-by rescuing them and bringing them here. We are so glad to have provided them with a forever home, and we could not have had better first residents of Moo to Ewe!

HOWIE

ARRIVED AT M2E MARCH 2019

Howie was rescued when he was just weeks old and in dire straights without his mother and her milk. Tender love and care helped him through such a critical stage of life. He is now thriving and still growing! Howie loves back scratches and leading the other free-roaming cows around the property!

 JOLENE

RESCUED SEPTEMBER 2021

Found on the road side, Jolene was looked after at her rescuers home, nurturing her with warm bottles of calf milk formula and lots of love.

Jolene is a very independent girl, happy to take on the big cows for her breakfast, even though we offer a seperate bucket for her! She also loves a cuddle or just some company in the sun.

KERNEL

Rescued OCTOBER 2018

Kernel Almond, our ‘Pretty Boy’, and the shortest of them all. Rescued from a dairy farm near Taree, NSW. Saved from his inevitably short life, inflicted by dairy farmers, Kernel can now live safely and happily with friends.

Bobby calves like Kernel are viewed as highly dispensable in the dairy industry. Often being sent to an abattoir as young as five days old, or shot on the farmer’s property.

Kernel has a kind soul and friendly to all…. when the hay and pellets aren’t around!

KODA

Rescued July 2019

Koda was rescued by a trainee vet on a placement at a farm where she fell in love with Koda and Cleo, taking both of them home with her. The farm battled a case of scours, a type of diarrhoea. As a young calf Cleo was not strong enough to survive the disease, sadly. Though Koda managed to get through it with a lot of love and care.

Bobby calves like Koda are viewed as highly dispensable in the dairy industry. Often being sent to an abattoir as young as five days old, or shot on the farmer’s property.

At Moo to Ewe, Koda has grown into a beautiful advocate for the bobby calves without a voice, with a kick in his step and a fondness for hanging out with Daisy.

 NALU

RESCUED 2 APRIL 2021

As a 3 month old Hereford calf, he would have been with his mother and the rest of the herd when flood waters rose around them, Nalu believed to be the only survivor 💔. He would most certainly not have made it either if not for the heroic efforts of Brooke and her friend who happened to spot his little white face bobbing in the flood waters near the highway they were on.

They somehow managed to pull him out of the water and get him onto the road, then they had to help him walk over 2km back to their vehicle. Brooke eventually got him back to her property where she did all she could to care for him after what must have been a horrifying experience for this poor baby.
Fortunately for Nalu, Brooke contacted us to see if we could offer him a place to live the life he very much deserves. 🌱💚

“Nalu” means 'wave in the ocean' or 'go with the flow' in Hawaiian.

OREO

Rescued OCTOBER 2018

This famous biscuit-resembling good-looking gal was rescued alongside her best friend Kernel. Being a little bit of a bossy boots, Oreo usually spends most of her time with Hope, Ray and Howie, who can keep her in line.

RAY

Rescued july 2018

Ray was rescued just two weeks later in a similar, dire situation to Hope in need of love and care. Hope and Ray are enjoying their lives side by side, grazing and exploring the property with Howie!

He is usually the last one to arrive for breakfast, being a very slow, laid back guy, arriving just behind Howie.

TASSIE

Rescued DECEMBER 2018

Our Handsome Bobby Calf. Tassie was rescued with Daisy and our passed friend Barney from a farm in Taree.

Tassie loves to try and fit in with the cool kids Kernel and Oreo, however doesn’t have as much pluck, being a gentle and kind-hearted boy. Tassie roams free with his friends Hope, Ray, Howie, Oreo and Kernel. Although he may be at the bottom of the hierarchy, Tassie hasn’t lost his spirit!

Bobby calves like Tassie are viewed as highly dispensable in the dairy industry. Often being sent to an abattoir as young as five days old, or shot on the farmer’s property.

BOSTON

Rescued 14th April 2023

Boston, named after the ivy that grows on the farm, was somewhat rescued, when someone found this little guy hanging around after a hunting trip made him an orphan.

Boston grew fast, but he’s still a cutie pie. Slowly winning Ivy’s heart… and we mean slowly…

IVY

Rescued june 2020

Ivy is our little bundle of joy!! She was found wondering the streets in Ourimbah. If not found, Ivy could have fallen victim to dogging and night hunting during the July-August season. For more information about pig hunting and the legal ways in which hunters can treat these animals in NSW, read this.

Ivy is safe now, and became fast friends with Bo, who has sadly now passed away.

You will often find Ivy with food on her nose and chin, and will always come up for a cuddle straight out of her wallow, so be careful with your pants, they’ll get muddy fast!!

SUNDAY

BIRTHDAY NOVEMBER 2015

Sunday lives in paradise, alongside the paddock of Bo and Ivy. Sunday devours watermelons, pumpkins, apples and sweet potatoes. He loves digging holes and harvesting pumpkins and watermelons in his spare time, re-landscaping the paddock within the first two months of being here!

SNOWY + JAFFA

Rescued march 2018

One of the first Roosters on the Farm, Snowy was rescued on the side of the road. Snowy was rescued with Cornelius but unfortunately, with the personalities that come with Roosters, Cornelius is in his own enclosure. However, Snowy has now found a new friend in Gerty, who both sleep in the same house as Clorie, Dawn and Dusk.

After being notified about three dumped young chickens roaming Tuggerah Train Station, we found only one cockerel left. He was very scared and very small. Jaffa is able to hang out with Snowy and the Hens as he is still young and quite fine with being bossed around by Snowy, and even Flopsy, one of the leghorn hens.

Roosters are one of the most misjudged and abandoned farmed animals, as they are too loud for city living, and people often don’t know whether their chicken from the hatchery is going to be male or female until it’s too late.

SUGAR & SPICE

Rescued march 2019

Ducks of the dam include Sugar, Spice, Bill, Scotty, Pinto, Chrissie, Rye, Reed, Rain, Tofu & Tempeh. These feathered friends live together in serenity on a large dam on the sanctuary. They are kept company by goose Captain Clyde. They spend their days swimming, washing and exploring the water and the green grass. Most of the M2E duck family were rescued from waterways where many ducks are unfortunately dumped. Lucky for these guys, they can live in a safe environment with daily treats and enjoyment.
